The Group Caja Rural is one of the top banking groups operating in Spain. It has more than 3.600 offices and 13.000 employees and its great financial strength and heritage is reflected in total assets of more than 59.000 million and equity of more than 4.700 million euros.
The Rural Savings Banks created this Group, which now provides its Members and clients with not only a general range of high quality products and services, but also specialised, personal service, thanks to the in-depth regional, provincial and local market knowledge of the individual Rural Savings Banks. The Rural Savings Banks in the group have, therefore, a defined area of activity in which to carry out their operations, yet they are not isolated, because their cooperation as a group allows them to access wider areas. Therefore The Group Caja Rural can offer the same services as other banks and savings banks, while maintaining its links with the local area.
The Group Caja Rural is supported by several participating entities in its operations, including the Asociación Española de Cajas Rurales (Spanish Association of Rural Savings Banks), Banco Cooperativo Español (Spanish Cooperative Bank) and Sociedad Rural Servicios Informáticos (the Rural IT Services Company).
The Group Caja Rural’s institutional framework, and the company structure that has grown around it, confirm the establishment of the Spanish Cooperative Bank’s most recent and far-reaching concentration. The resulting system of integration takes the form of a federated bank that enables the Rural Savings Banks in the network to remain independent, without sacrificing the vital requirements of banking operations and company efficiency, allowing each Entity to take its activities beyond the limits of its individual size and geographical area.
The Group Caja Rural has chosen a banking system marked by operational decentralisation and by the subsidiary principle, based on the criteria of legal independence and decision-making ability.
